Boston Daily Globe Thursday, July 8. 1954 ------------- Arlington, July 7 -- Raymond S. Morrill, 59, of 48 Kenilworth road, principal of the Arlington High School since 1948 died today of a heart attackat Mt. Desert, ME., while on a camping trip with his wife. Born in Portland, ME., Mr. Morrill graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1918 and received his master's degreen from Harvard in 1933. Before coming to Arlington in 1931, he served as a teacher-coach at Stoneham, Malden and Chelsea high schools. During World War I, he served with the Canadian Army. From 1941 to 1948, Mr. Morrill was assistant principal at Arlington High, and in 1948 he succeeded Herman Gammons, who retired. For many years Mr. Morrill was an official scorer for the Eastern Massachusetts Basket Ball Tournament at Boston Garden. He was also secretary of District No. 1 Athletics of the State Headmasters Association, and a member of the Schoolmasters Club of Boston, Quiniped Club of Boston, Newcomen Society of Boston, and the Arlington Lions Club.
